What is faith?
By
definition, faith is only faith when we put it in an unseen power (God). Many times we are tempted to put faith in something we can
see: our spouse, our parents, our employer, our government, our church leaders,
etc. Whenever we put our faith in
something or someone we can see, it is by definition misplaced faith, and we will
be disappointed. Confusion,
frustration, and anxiety will follow!
Joy
and misery are eternal and opposite emotions. When our faith is in God, we will feel joy, even in
difficult times. When our faith is
in a person or entity other than God, we will feel misery… this misery
often feels like worry, confusion, anxiety, frustration, and/or anger!
When
we write down our feelings, we are better able to understand them and process
them. For deep and lasting
personal development, journaling is essential! Take a few minutes right now to journal about a negative
emotion you are experiencing.
Don’t think about the feeling – just start writing! Because the
subconscious mind (you will learn more about the conscious and subconscious
minds later) has so much more capacity than your conscious mind, and writing
bypasses your conscious mind and accesses those subconscious feelings, I am often
surprised at what I write when I do this exercise!
On
a separate sheet of paper, write: “I am feeling ____________ because
_______________ .” Write for at
least 5 minutes.
Now
ask yourself: “Am I ready, willing
and able to surrender this to God?
Do I completely trust Him with this?” (If you aren't ready yet, keep journalling!)
Great
job! Now destroy the paper – you
have given it over to God and you don’t need a record of it any more. You can shred it or burn it over the
toilet… whatever feels good to you!
Daily Challenge: Every day for 30 days in a row, I want you to say the following out loud at least 10 times each day!!! Be sure to say it cheerfully and enthusiastically! This scripture is found in Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
You've now completed this challenge two days in a row - Be sure to congratulate yourself for a job well done!
